Why Jigsaw Puzzles Make Your Kid Smarter

At Blimey Box, we are all about creating screen-free, hands-on, problem-solving games for kids to help them get smarter and to become outside the box thinkers. And today I'm going to talk why Jigsaw Puzzles make kids smarter. They're amazing for learning. Giving your children opportunities to practice using jigsaw puzzles is great, especially for young kids.

Why jigsaw puzzles make your kids smarter

Jigsaw puzzles are a great way to support learning and they're really, really fun. So let your child put together jigsaw puzzles. Do them together and encourage them to work on them independently. Also, it is okay for a child to do a jigsaw puzzle more than one time to get really good at it.

Learning Benefits

Jigsaw puzzles make kids smarter. There are so many different skills that children can learn from jigsaw puzzles, including:

  • Spatial awareness
  • Learning from mistakes
  • Concentration
  • Memory
  • Logical thinking

Ideas for using Jigsaw Puzzles

We have now started to incorporate more jigsaw puzzles into our family life. They are great and easy and you can take them anywhere.

You can take them to a restaurant, and instead of handing over your iPhone to watch youtube videos, bust out the jigsaw puzzle and let your kids work on that at the restaurant table. It's a quiet, hands-on activity that your kids can learn and play at the same time.

Instead of a family movie night, you can have a family puzzle night. You can sit around the table and work on a puzzle together.

We've been incorporating jigsaw puzzle games into our Blimey Box games for our son. We'll add a jigsaw puzzle to a game and tape on numbers in a secret code.

Our son has to put the jigsaw puzzle together in order to get the secret code to unlock the lock. This makes the Blimey Box game last a little longer. Jigsaw puzzles are a fun way to incorporate some different outside-the-box thinking skills.

Now go out there, check out the dollar bins at Target or the dollar store to find some really cheap and fun jigsaw puzzles. Have a great day!
